The new hosting account includes unlimited Web space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, a free domain name, and the ability to host unlimited domains on one account.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Go Daddy (www.godaddy.com) announced this week that it would be celebrating the fourth annual Web Professionals Day this Friday, a “holiday” created by the company in conjunction with the World Organization of Webmasters (www.webprofessionals.org).

Go Daddy says Friday, April 29, 2011 is the fourth Web Professionals Day, an occasion created “to honor all online professionals around the globe – the people who develop, run, refresh, secure and repair websites.”

The company will be hosting a party to clebrate the occasion in Scottsdale.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Lincoln Rackhouse Data Centers (www.rackhouse.com) announced on Wednesday it has acquired a Plano, Texas data center. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

The 150,000-square-foot “purpose-built” data center is located in the Legacy business park at 6653 Pinecrest Drive.

Built by Stream Realty Partners in 2006, the data center is located on a 20-acre site and built to  withstand 175-acre winds. The building is valued for taxes at more than $40 million.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In a Friday posting to its blog, cloud hosting provider Amazon issued an apology for the April 21 outage to its EC2 cloud hosting service that disrupted many websites and applications – including several high-profile social media tools – providing a lengthy technical explanation and offering customers service credits.

While it was working to repair the outage, which had widespread impact and drew even more widespread attention, criticism and speculation, Amazon promised a detailed explanation of the problem’s cause. On Friday, it posted an almost-6,000-word accounting of the outage, written by the AWS team, to its blog. 

In the blog post, along with a lengthy and detailed technical explanation of the outage, the company offers customers an apology, along with a 10-day credit for their services.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REIEW) — Cloud hosting resources marketplace SpotCloud (www.spotcloud.com) announced this week that it has created the open source SpotCloud OpenStack Connector, an easy tool for companies building clouds on the OpenStack framework to make their services available on the SpotCloud market.

In the announcement, SpotCloud calls the release an important step in its efforts to open the SpotCloud market to the widest possible range of cloud services. The SpotCloud OpenStack Connector code is available for download from the company’s website. It is free open source software released under the Apache license.

The SpotCloud market is a kind of clearinghouse for infrastructure as a service resources, enabling sellers of cloud hosting to get their services in front of a community of buyers, who register for the service, and set up an account with SpotCloud in order to buy the cloud processing.
