(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Security firm Symantec (www.symantec.com) announced on Tuesday that it has released its intelligence report for June 2011, combining for the first time research from its Symantec.cloud MessageLabs Intelligence Report and the Symantec State of Spam and Phishing. The report finds that spam is at its lowest level since November 2008.

According to the report, spam accounted for nearly 73 percent of email in June and more than 75 percent of this spam was sent by botnets. The global ratio of spam in email traffic decreased by 3 percent since May 2011.

“Despite the decrease in botnet spam this month, they should still be considered a dangerous force on the Internet. Cybercriminals continue to use botnets to conduct distributed denial of service attacks (DDoS), carry out fraudulent click-thrus on unsuspecting websites for financial gain, host illegal Web site content on infected computers, harvest personal data from infected users and install spyware to track victims’ activities online,” Paul Wood, senior intelligence analyst, Symantec.cloud said in a statement.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — A new study finds three quarters of federal IT decision makers are unaware of the savings realized by data center consolidation, according to a report by government IT network MeriTalk (www.meritalk.com).

This report comes two weeks after cloud proponent Vivek Kundra resigned from his post as federal chief information officer. He led the data center consolidation plan which looks to shut down 800 government-owned data centers by 2015.

Underwritten by NetApp (www.netapp.com), “Measure to Manage II: Consolidation Crash Course” finds that this inability to track cost savings of data center consolidation inhibits the ability to quantify and reinvest savings.

Creating great content is critical to your business. Social media is grabbing all the headlines. Search gets more powerful every year. How should your organization harness the power of each of these disciplines to increase leads and conversions?

One of the fundamental goals of content marketing, of all advertising, is to engage an audience that will spread your information for free. We can no longer just describe our products and services. We must tell the story around our products and services, talk about the people who create and deliver those as well as about the people who purchase them.

Many companies have a false belief they lack the resources to implement such a comprehensive marketing campaign. But, content marketing can actually help cut marketing costs significantly. In this session, attendees will leave with a list of free and inexpensive ways to do everything from conduct keyword and market research to distributing your content across the web. In addition, Arnie will highlight some real world examples of companies that have experienced incredible success just because they told a great story.

Published author. Professional speaker. Entrepreneur. Arnie Kuenn has held executive positions in the world of new technologies and Internet marketing for more than 20 years.
