(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Australian telecommunications provider Telstra (www.telstra.com.au) and US-based technology consulting firm Accenture (www.accenture.com) announced on Monday that they will launch a new Product Innovation Lab in Melbourne to develop cloud computing solutions for Australia and New Zealand customers.

Telstra and Accenture established a strategic relationship in April 2010 with the goal of helping orgnizations build their businesses around cloud, according to the press release.

In June, Telstra announced that it would invest more than $800 million in its cloud services over the next five years, so clearly this is the result of at least some of that investment.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Layered Technologies (www.layeredtech.com) announced on Tuesday that it has expanded its partnership with accounting software developer Ontario Systems (www.ontariosystems.com).

According to the press release, Ontario Systems has selected Layered Tech’s PCI-compliant dedicated hosting and cloud platforms to support its SaaS-based debt collection management solution Collect Savvy.

Ontario Systems says it relied on Layered Tech to develop a custom hybrid infrastructure that combined Layered Tech’s cloud and dedicated hosting offerings to create an environment that could support customer applications and workloads.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Hostek.com (www.hostek.com) announced on Monday that it has partnered with open source ColdFusion Markup Language engine provider Railo (www.getrailo.com). According to the press release, Hostek.com is the first web hosting partner in Railo’s hosting partner program.

Hostek.com says the program enables it to benefit from the direct support of the Railo development team.

According to Railo’s website, its Railo Hosting Partner program is designed for companies that offer Railo Server-based hosting. Some of the benefits of joining the program, according to Railo, include a five percent discount of purchases made from Railo Technologies, listing on the Railo website, ability to display the Railo Hosting Partner banner, early access to new features and releases as well as access to the marketing materials portal. In addition, being part of the program entitles partners to access its Silver Support Package.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Digital optical networking systems provider Infinera (www.infinera.com) announced on Tuesday that it has opened its Russian headquarters in Moscow.

This announcement comes a week after Infinera opened its new office in Hong Kong.

According to the press release, Infinera Russia will be focus on marketing, sales operations and building relationships with local partners to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the region.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Interop (www.interop.com) announced on Tuesday it will host the Carrier Cloud Forum, a first-time cloud services-focused program that will take place during Interop New York (www.interop.com/newyork).

Hosted by Light Reading (www.lightreading.com) and Heavy Reading (www.heavyreading.com), the Carrier Cloud Forum will take place on October 5th from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Javits Convention Center.

The one-day conference provides education and peer-to-peer interaction on important issues involving building a cloud infrastructure and developing a cloud services business model that works.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider SoftLayer Technologies (www.softlayer.com) announced on Tuesday that IP solutions provider Global Crossing (www.globalcrossing.com) has deployed 14 new 10 Gbps dedicated Internet access ports.

This announcement comes a month after SoftLayer expanded the storage options for CloudLayer Computing Instances to include Local Disk Storage.

Global Crossing DIA connects enterprise networks to the Internet, according to the press release. The ports enable communication and scalable bandwidth for increased capacity when needed.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud cost management solution provider Cloud Cruiser (www.cloudcruiser.com) announced on Tuesday it is now offering the general availability of its enterprise suite of cloud cost management solutions for private, hybrid and public cloud computing infrastructures.

The move comes a couple weeks after Cloud Cruiser announced the general availability for its Cloud Cruiser cost management solution for the OpenStack environment.

Cloud Cruiser’s enterprise suite offers cloud providers and enterprises ongoing workflow tools that provide management and accounting capabilities for optimizing capex and opex costs in heterogeneous cloud computing environments.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Web hosting provider Online Tech (www.onlinetech.com) announced on Tuesday that it has invested more than $1 million in upgrades and expansion to its Flint, Michigan data center.

According to the press release, the upgrades have been completed over the past nine months.

Earlier this month Online Tech upgraded its web-based client portal, OTPortal.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center provider TELEHOUSE America (www.telehouse.com) announced on Monday that Level 3 Communications (www.level3.com) has extended its network into TELEHOUSE’s 60,000 square foot Chelsea data center.

This announcement comes two weeks after AboveNet announced it was the first carrier to connect to the data center at 85 10th Avenue in New York. Last week, telecommunications provider KDDI America extended its connectivity to the data center as well.

“Level 3 has been a carrier partner of TELEHOUSE since 2003, with network extensions into TELEHOUSE New York data centers as well as TELEHOUSE Los Angeles,” Andrew Crouch, president of sales for Level 3 said in a statement. “We are proud to extend our advanced fiber-optic network into its newest New York data center, TELEHOUSE New York Chelsea, and believe that this extension demonstrates our on-going commitment to simplifying customer access to our first-rate portfolio of network service solutions.”
