(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Data center infrastructure management provider nlyte Software announced on Monday it has launched nlyte 6.2 which it calls the first DCIM solution to provide large scale data center project lifecycle management.

The move comes nearly a year after nlyte closed $12 million in series C funding, which it is using for expansion of operations, acceleration of product development, strengthening of the partner ecosystem and the hiring of staff.

nlyte DCIM project lifecycle management allows customers to auto-allocate hundreds of assets to create what-if models for any number and size of data center projects.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — The Indian data center market will reach $1.3 billion in 2016 with help from telecommunication providers and hosting providers expanding their infrastructure in the country, a recent study by research firm Gartner claims.

According to the press release, Indian data center capacity will reach 6.6 million square feet by 2016 as service providers continue to meet demand for data center space. By next year, Gartner predicts the Indian data center market will be worth $609.1 million.

This study comes on the heels of Parallels research that shows hosted infrastructure is the most popular cloud service for small and medium-sized businesses.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Microsoft Canada announced on Friday that it has released a new survey that reveals that Canadian businesses are unclear when it comes to cloud computing.

The report, conducted by Leger Marketing, surveyed Canadian C-level executives across all sectors and found that 19 percent of those who indicated they are not currently using cloud services were in fact using cloud computing solutions and services like Microsoft Web Apps, Microsoft Office 365 and Windows Azure.

The survey also found that those who are not using cloud-based services (67 percent) admit they do not know enough to make major decisions about it at this time.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Managed hosting provider Claranet announced on Wednesday that it has launched a new cloud computing service for organizations looking to migrate internal IT infrastructure to the cloud.

According to the press release, the Claranet Virtual Data Center will address the key concerns of enterprises looking to move to the cloud including cost control, scalability and the speed of implementation.

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud computing provider Agilisys announced on Thursday that it has won a three-year contract to provide process technology company PDX with managed infrastructure-as-a-service. The contract is valued at approximately $1.5 million.

This announcement comes about a month after Agilisys launched Agilisys Cloud Services, its managed IaaS that provides a suite of cloud services in its UK data centers. It also appointed David Cotterell to lead the new division.

According to the press release, this service will streamline PDX’s IT infrastructure and include hosting, storage, provisoining of Microsoft technologies, backup and desktop support.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — IT business services provider Orange Business Services announced on Tuesday its plans to accelerate its growth in Asia Pacific by focusing on network enhancements, cloud computing, and strategic partnerships.

Orange says that more than 800 enterprise customers in the region are already using its network backbone. According to the press release, the company aims to generate more than $1 billion in revenues in emerging countries in 2015. To meet this goal, it is adding customer-facing personnel to focus on opportunities, with a specific focus in China, India, and ASEAN.

Orange has already added 200 new employees in 2011. According to the press release, most of the employees added in the past six months have bolstered its sales and customer support team.

The UK Metopolitan Police Central e-Crime Unit is working to crack down on these fraudulent sites and has already shut down more than 2,000 .co.uk domains of fake websites.

The websites were selling millions of pounds of fake products that claim to be designer brands but are actually made by rogue factories in different parts of the world.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Hosted infrastructure is the most popular cloud service for Indian small and medium-sized businesses, according to a new study by Parallels.

Parallels presented some of its findings of the small business market for cloud and hosted services at the WHD.Local event in October. In the presentation, John Zanni of Parallels focused specifically on the UK market. Zanni estimates the total hosted infrastructure market in the UK to be about $1 billion.

In India, Parallels claims that the cloud service market in India – including hosted infrastructure and web presence services – is about $123 million in 2011. Hosted infrastructure accounts for about $97 million of this figure.
