The Burundi government has shut down Internet access for most of the country’s citizens by ordering telecoms and ISPs to block practically all social networking apps, including Twitter, Facebook, Whatsapp, and Viber. The African nation has been gripped by political violence and unrest since President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he would run for a third term in June elections, which may violate the constitution and the fragile peace accord which ended the 12 year civil war in 2005.

One of San Diego’s claims to fame which will be present at numerous networking functions during HostingCon Global 2015, and perhaps most popular of all, is beer. The region has such a strong brewing tradition that “Double” or “Imperial” India pale ales are commonly known as “San Diego pale ales.” SDPAs are hoppy and strong, and of course should be enjoyed in moderation.

San Diego also produces many other kinds of brews, enough to suit any beer drinkers’ taste. You know a county is serious about beer when it not only holds an annual beer week, but also needs ten days to fit it all in. San Diego has also been named one of America’s Best Cities for Beer by Men’s Journal

There are literally over 100 microbreweries in the San Diego area, many gaining reputations locally and throughout the State for producing fine adult beverages. Those in the North Inland region may be too far away unless you have a day before or after HostingCon, but the “Downtown and Gaslamp Quarter” alone has 7 microbreweries listed.

Pizza Port Ocean Beach is 15-20 minutes drive away, but has won international awards for its own line of beer. Much closer to HostingCon at the San Diego Convention Center is Karl Strauss Downtown, a highly regarded microbrewery in its own right and is just over ten minutes away on the “Green Line” or about the same on foot. The very new Half Door Brewing Company is a slightly longer walk. Any of the above are great spots for connoisseurs to either pick up beer, sample it in house, or dine in style, and there are many others.

You may want to exercise some caution letting your developers know about this. San Diego is a diverse city with a lot to offer that people don’t necessarily know about. A special spot on America’s beer map is probably one of those, and helps make it the perfect city for HostingCon 2015.
