June 11, 2012 — Data center operator Telehouse Group announced on Monday that its parent company, KDDI will invest approximately $140.6 million to expand its data center business in the Greater China market including China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Google (www.google.com) announced on Wednesday that it will invest more than $200 million to build data centers in Asia.

This announcement comes weeks after Google released several reports exposing its data center energy consumption. Google says its data centers consume 50 percent less energy than the industry average.

According to the announcement, Google will build a data center in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. These facilities would be Google’s first fully-owned data centers in the Asia-pacific region, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

 

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Cloud computing software provider Joyent (www.joyent.com) announced on Monday that it has partnered with systems integrator MiTAC (www.mitac.com) to launch MiCloud, Taiwan’s first public cloud service for enterprises and service providers.

This launch comes less than a week after Joyent launched its improved public cloud computing platform.

According to the press release, MiCloud is a fully integrated hardware and software solution. The single rack solution combines MiTAC’s systems integration experience and TYAN servers, Joyent’s cloud software solution, SmartDataCenter and network operating system Arista EOS.

Headquartered in Taipei, Taiwan, U-SYNC is a hosting provider that targets Taiwanese telcos while planning to expand to the Chinese mainland during 2011.
